Keeping Your Business Safe

- If you have a storefront, is it well lighted at night?

- Do your staff policies require at least two people to open or close?

- Does staff exit the building with a companion whenever possible?

- Is your parking lot well lighted at night?

- Do employees keep their cars locked at all times?

- Do you have a policy for threatening situations? Take the time to discuss these issues with all personnel

- Don't resist if the attacker is only after property or has a weapon.

- If you decide to resist, don't get scared, get MAD! Shout "NO", "STOP", or "CALL THE POLICE!" Try to incapacitate the assailant long enough to escape.

- Try to get an accurate description of the attacker, color of eyes and hair, type of clothing, height, weight, sex, and any unusual features such as scars or a tattoo

- If a vehicle is involved get the license number and direction of travel.
